PHOENIX, AZ (January 1, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, a brutal pedestrian accident on Interstate 10 near 16th Street killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 4:20 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 16th Street.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials revealed that the pedestrian, only vaguely identified at this time as a white man, was hit by at least one vehicle.

Meanwhile, the vehicle remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.

Also, crews were closed the freeway at 7th Street for several hours, but it has since reopened.

DPS officials are still searching for any other vehicles that may have unknowingly hit the pedestrian after the initial crash.

Furthermore, the pedestrian’s identity remained undisclosed and it’s unclear why the man was on the freeway.
