18-Wheeler Tire Blowout on I-20 Leads to Multi-Vehicle Crash in Abilene

Abilene, TX (September 27, 2024) On Wednesday, a horrific multi-car crash on I-20 led to minor injury.

According to Abilene police, the multi-vehicle crash happened on the I-20 Westbound near the Elmdale Road exit.

Reports say that an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on I-20 near the Elmdale Road exit suffered a tire blowout, causing it to veer into the median cables.

Officials say that the impact dragged the cables into the eastbound lanes, leading to collisions with three other vehicles, including an SUV, a pickup truck, and another 18-wheeler.

Police on the scene reported that one person sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the crash.
