1 Dead in Palm Springs Motorcycle Accident on North Gene Autry Trail and East Via Escuela

PALM SPRINGS, CA (April 30, 2024) – Sunday, a brutal motorcycle crash on North Gene Autry Trail and East Via Escuela killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 8:00 p.m. when a motorcyclist headed north on North Gene Autry Trail. Then, they crashed with a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction, and made a left turn onto East Via Escuela.

As a result, the 31-year-old motorcyclist from Auburn succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 64-year-old driver from Rancho Mirage remained at the scene and was transported to a local hospital with “moderate injuries.”

Officers said that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision, which led to North Gene Autry Trail being shut down overnight, reopening at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Palm Springs Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 760-323-8125.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
