EL PASO COUNTY, TX (July 31, 2023) – Sunday morning, a brutal motor vehicle crash on Eastlake Boulevard and Rojas Drive killed 1 person.

The incident happened at 6:06 a.m. at the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Rojas Drive.

According to reports, 28-year-old Carlos Balandran drove a Ford Focus and was found unconscious.

Thus, deputies called for medical personnel at the scene.

Then, responders took Balandran to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Moreover, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Also, the Special Traffic Investigators, which is the unit that investigates fatal or serious crashes responded to the scene.

Moreover, the investigation revealed that the driver of the Ford Focus was heading north on Eastlake behind another car.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford Focus failed to control his speed and hit the other car from behind, damaging both vehicles.

The driver of the Focus, Balandran, failed to wear his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

As a result, he suffered a severe head injury, the Sheriff’s Office revealed.

Moreover, the crash marked the seventh traffic fatality in El Paso County compared to nine at the same time last year.
