65-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Brutal Hit-and-Run Crash on Western Avenue [Los Angeles, CA]

1 Dead in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident on Western Avenue

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 29, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, a 65-year-old pedestrian died in a brutal hit-and-run crash on Western Avenue.

The incident happened when a man crossed east on Western Avenue, outside a marked crosswalk.

Then, a black pickup truck going southbound on Western Avenue hit him, the LAPD’s Media Relations Division revealed.

“A second vehicle, also traveling south on Western Avenue, may have collided with the pedestrian while he was laying on the roadway,” according to a police statement. “Both drivers failed to remain at the scene, identify themselves, or render aid to the pedestrian as required by law.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the crash, the vehicle that hit the pedestrian fled the scene.

The authorities have not described the suspect vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident.

A reward of up to $50,000 has been offered to the public for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction, or resolution through civil compromise, of the individual responsible for the fatal hit-and-run, as stated by the police.

Detectives from the LAPD West Traffic Bureau are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 213-473-0234. During non-business hours or weekends, individuals can call 877-527-3247. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or through the website lacrimestoppers.org.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
