1 Dead in San Diego Auto Accident on State Route 78 and Weekend Villa Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 26, 2023) – Saturday morning, a brutal head-on crash on State Route 78 and Weekend Villa Road killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old Ramona man traveled east on state Route 78, west of Weekend Villa Road.

Then, his vehicle drove across the opposite lane and struck a Ford Edge SUV head-on, causing it to roll off the road.

Meanwhile, the sole passenger, a 44-year-old woman from Ramona, was declared dead at the scene, CHP added.

Moreover, the driver escaped on foot but was later detained at his residence. He is currently facing charges of driving under the influence, hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter.

The authorities haven’t disclosed the identities of the victim and the suspect.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
