2 Dead in Harris County Auto Accident on Interstate 10 East and Freeport Street

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (November 6, 2023) – Sunday morning, a brutal head-on crash on Interstate 10 East and Freeport Street killed 2 people.

The incident occurred at around midnight on Interstate 10 East at Freeport Street.

According to Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a wrong-way driver crashed head-on with another vehicle on Sunday on Interstate 10 East in east Harris County.

Initially, HCSO received other calls about a vehicle driving the wrong way on Interstate 10. As the law enforcement officers tried to locate it, they received a report about the crash.

Reports revealed that the wrong-way driver was driving west in the eastbound lanes. Then, they collided with the other vehicle which caused both cars to catch fire.

As a result, the wrong-way driver and a passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene. However, the authorities haven’t clarified which vehicle the deceased passenger was in.

Moreover, responders took the other driver to a local hospital in serious condition and was scheduled to have surgery.

Also, the authorities haven’t determined whether the wrong-way driver was intoxicated, and none of the victims were identified.

Authorities also encouraged motorists to think of others before they get behind the wheel. Residents are advised to use a rideshare or taxi, so they don’t drive while intoxicated.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
