CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 17, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a brutal head-on crash on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay Boulevard killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 7:10 a.m. on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay Boulevard.

One person died and two others were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 4 in eastern Contra Costa County on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 7:10 a.m. on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay Boulevard.

According to reports, an Acura with two occupants headed west on the highway. Then, it drove across the eastbound lane and crashed head-on with a Ford F-350 truck, CHP officials added.

Moreover, the passenger in the Acura was declared dead at the scene. Then, responders took the driver to a hospital with major injuries.

Also, the Ford driver sustained no injuries. Meanwhile, a passenger in the truck was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Then, the authorities shut down the highway for more than three hours. Then, all lanes reopened by around 10:30 a.m.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the case to contact the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
