1 Dead in Fullerton Auto Accident near Richman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue

FULLERTON, CA (September 17, 2023) – Friday night, a brutal head-on crash near Richman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 9:00 p.m. near Richman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue.

According to reports, a 28-year-old Fullerton man drove a Honda Civic at a high speed. Then, he swerved to avoid hitting another car and crashed head-on into a Nissan Pathfinder.

Arriving officers confirmed that a white 2006 Honda Civic and a grey 2016 Nissan Pathfinder had been involved in the collision. Then, both sustained significant front-end damage.

Meanwhile, the initial investigation revealed that the Civic was headed east on Orangethorpe approaching Richman “at a high rate of speed.”

Then, it veered into oncoming traffic, apparently to avoid rear-ending another eastbound vehicle traveling in front of it at a slower speed.

Then, it went into oncoming westbound traffic and the Civic struck the Pathfinder.

As a result, responders took the Honda driver to a trauma center where he was declared dead. His identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Pathfinder, a 44-year-old Fullerton man, and his 8-year-old female passenger both sustained minor injuries.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to call police at 714-738-6812, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
