AUSTIN, TX (August 28, 2023) – Sunday morning, a brutal head-on crash near North Lamar Boulevard and Rutland Drive killed 1 person.

The incident happened just before 4:00 a.m. near North Lamar Boulevard and Rutland Drive.

According to reports, the crash involved three vehicles, one of which fled the scene of the initial crash.

Then, troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) managed to find the third vehicle elsewhere in the city and arrested the driver.

Meanwhile, they haven’t clarified whether the driver would be charged with leaving the scene of the crash or some other charge.

Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) confirmed that the crash injured a total of five parties.

Meanwhile, they described the deceased party as a woman in her 50s.

Responders transported two patients to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. Then, another patient was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. Also, a fourth person declined treatment for minor injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
