1 Dead in Oxnard Bicycle Crash near Saviers Road and Pleasant Valley Road

OXNARD, CA (May 5, 2024) – Friday night, a brutal bicycle accident near Saviers Road and Pleasant Valley Road killed 1 person.

The hit-and-run incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. near Saviers Road and Pleasant Valley Road.

According to reports, the bicyclist was riding south on Saviers Road in the northbound bike lane. 

As the bicyclist approached the Speedway Express gas station, a vehicle exited the station in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and proceeded to make a right turn onto Saviers.

Then, the driver collided with a cyclist and then fled the scene, according to police officials.

The cyclist sustained major injuries and was swiftly transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. However, despite medical efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, as reported by the police.

Investigators are currently conducting an inquiry into the incident. While speed is not believed to have been a contributing factor, authorities are yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
