SAN DIEGO, CA (October 18, 2023) – Monday night, a brutal auto accident on Interstate 805 near State Route 904 killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 11:45 p.m. on Interstate 805 near State Route 94.

According to reports, as a white Nissan Maxima headed north on Interstate 805, it veered off the freeway, went up an embankment, and crashed its roof into a sign pillar.

The impact trapped the Maxima’s 63-year-old female driver and a female passenger in the wreckage, leading responding emergency crews to use the Jaws of Life tool in the rescue effort.

Then, responders declared the driver dead at the scene. Also, responders transported the passenger, who was not identified, to the hospital with major injuries.

Meanwhile, the authorities have yet to determine whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
