Reports say that the 72-year-old woman sustained a skull fracture during the head-on collision in San Diego’s Scripps Ranch area.

Authorities say that an 83-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 north on Scripps Ranch Boulevard when she mistakenly entered the southbound lane of Aviary Drive. She collided head-on with a 2014 Nissan Maxima driven by a 50-year-old man.

Emergency responders transported the injured passenger from the Nissan to a hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
