2 Dead and 5 Hurt in Yreka Auto Accident on State Route 3

YREKA, CA (June 5, 2023) – Saturday, a brutal 2-car crash on State Route 3 killed 2 people.

The incident involving two cars happened on southbound State Route 3. After the incident, two people died while five others sustained injuries.

According to reports, the driver of a pickup truck headed south on State Route 3 through a sweeping curve. Then, they veered to the right into the gravel shoulder.

Officers confirmed that the driver veered sharply to the left to correct the truck. However, the driver lost control and cost the truck to spin out and went into the northbound lane where it collided with the right side of a SUV.

As a result, the pickup truck driver and passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV and three of her passengers, all youths, suffered major injuries. Meanwhile, a fourth SUV passenger sustained minor injuries. Responders took them to Fairchild Medical Center.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to call Yreka Area CHP at 530-842-0530.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
