Passenger Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash at Belmont and Newmark Avenues
SANGER, CA (September 25, 2019) – A man died in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Sanger, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Belmont Avenue near North Newmark Avenue.
A red 1999 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Belmont when it attempted to make a left turn onto Newmark, the CHP said.
Investigators say the Ford turned right into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Silverado could not stop in time and slammed into the passenger side of the Ford. The Silverado continued eastbound, where it crossed into the westbound lane of Belmont and sideswiped a 2016 Hyundai.
As a result, the passenger in the Ford died at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified him as Bruce Johnson, 56, of Sanger.
The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Charles S. Williams of Orange Cove, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Silverado, 27-year-old Cristal O. Aviles of Kerman, and the driver of the Hyundai, 45-year-old Dyane Shadowens of Sanger, both sustained minor injuries.
Authorities did not rule out drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
We hope the family and friends of Bruce Johnson are surrounded by steadfast and comforting support as they grieve for the loss of their loved one.
