Truck Fatally Struck Male Pedestrian Lying in Road in Brookdale

 
BROOKDALE, CA (February 12, 2019) – A man was killed following a pedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon in Brookdale.
 
The incident happened around 2:26 p.m. on Highway 9 at Larkspur Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male pedestrian was walking northbound on the highway when he stopped to lay in the road for unknown reasons. A truck with a trailer then hit the man, killing the victim.
 
The driver of truck reportedly stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the Santa Cruz County coroner pending notification of his family members.
 
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined.
