28-Year-Old Monroe Woman Fatally Injured in Two-Car Accident on I-90
CLE ELUM, WA (June 10, 2018) – A woman was killed late Sunday evening after her vehicle rolled over on the eastbound Interstate 90. 28-year-old Brittney King of Monroe was later identified as the fatality in this incident.
According to the Washington State Patrol, King was driving a brown Toyota Camry on the I-90 around 11:00 PM, about three miles west of Cle Elum. A retired trooper witnessed her driving erratically on the highway and reported it to officials.
By the time state troopers responded to the scene, they found King’s vehicle and a red Toyota Prius, severely damaged from a recent crash.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Camry was heading east on Interstate 90 when King swerved to the left into the median. King overcorrected her vehicle, causing it to roll over and block one lane. The driver of the Prius, 59-year-old Randolph Bolong Yakima, was unable to stop his vehicle in time and slammed into the Camry. His car came to a stop on the right shoulder.
King was ejected from her vehicle after it rolled over, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Bolong and his passenger were reportedly unharmed from the incident. Affected areas were temporarily shut down for approximately five hours to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
Our thoughts are with the bereaved loved ones of Brittney King. We wish them strength and courage during this trying time. May she rest in peace.
