28-Year-Old Monroe Woman Fatally Injured in Road Collision
CLE ELUM, WA (June 10, 2018) – A woman was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 90, late Sunday evening. The deceased victim was later identified as 28-year-old Brittney King of Monroe.
Washington State Patrol troopers and medics arrived at the scene of the accident around 11:00 PM, after a retired trooper reported a brown Toyota Camry driving erratically in the eastbound lanes. A preliminary investigation found that King was heading eastbound on the 90 Freeway when her Toyota Camry veered to the left into the median.
She overcorrected to the right, causing the car to roll over on the highway. She was ejected from the vehicle, and the car came to a stop in the road, blocking one lane of eastbound 90 Freeway. A second vehicle, a red Toyota Prius, was also heading east on 90 Freeway and slammed into the rolled-over Camry. The Prius came to rest on the right shoulder.
King sustained critical injuries was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver and a passenger in the Prius were reportedly not injured in the collision.
The area of the accident on eastbound the 90 Freeway was closed for about five hours after the crash, as authorities conducted their investigation. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
