Collision with Big Rig on Highway 63 at Avenue 336 Kills Two
VISALIA, CA (May 13, 2019) – Two people killed following a three-vehicle collision Monday morning just North of Visalia city limits.
Officers received calls about the crash just before 8:00 a.m. on Highway 63 and Avenue 336.
Two passenger vehicles allegedly collided with a big rig for unknown reasons, CHP officials said. A white Honda then became lodged underneath the 18-wheeler truck as a result.
The two occupants inside the car were trapped under the truck due to the impact. They later died at the scene. The victims have been identified by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office as Briseda Herrera, 29 and Nicholas Herrera, 12.
The collision caused fuel to leak into the roadways forcing hazmat teams to clean up the mess.
Investigators closed off the intersection for hours as they conducted their investigation.
During this delicate time, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of Briseda Herrera and Nicholas Herrera.
