Two Women Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident near Roper Road
BATTLE GROUND, WA (April 24, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon, a three-vehicle collision on Highway 503 resulted in the hospitalization of two women. The victims were identified as 50-year-old Brigit Sanderson, a resident of Yacolt, and 49-year-old Jennifer Withee-Heine, also a resident of Yacolt.
According to reports released by the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 2:45 PM. Luke Grant, a 31-year-old resident of Battle Ground, was traveling southbound on Highway 503 when he failed to stop his vehicle in time for traffic ahead.
Sanderson, who was driving the car directly in front of Grant’s vehicle, had already stopped for the traffic when Grant rear-ended her car. The impact of the collision pushed Sanderson’s vehicle into the northbound lanes where she struck an oncoming car, in which Withee-Heine was a passenger. Both vehicles were sent to a nearby guardrail, where they came to a rest.
Withee-Heine was taken to the hospital by her husband, while Sanderson was transported by an ambulance to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. She was treated and released later that evening.
Investigators are pointing at excessive speed as the main cause of the collision, resulting in Grant being cited by the authorities.
