Brianna Sanchez Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash south of Mountain View in Selma
Selma, CA (May 11, 2020) – On Sunday afternoon, Brianna Sanchez died and Jesus Sanchez sustained injuries in a fiery multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99.
Officers first received reports around 1:20 p.m. Dispatchers arrived on the northbound lanes of Highway 99, just south of Mountain View shortly after.
Emergency crews say the accident involved a semi-truck and five other vehicles.
CHP spokesperson Mike Salas reported traffic slowing down due to construction. There, a big-rig driver carrying fruit did not stop in time as it approached the traffic jam, hence a chain reaction crash.
The big-rig collided into other five vehicles, resulting in a fire. An 11-year-old girl from Delhi, identified as Brianna Sanchez, died trapped inside one of the vehicles.
14-year-old Jesus Sanchez also sustained major injuries in the accident.
In addition, Alejandro Sanchez, Alejandro Sanchez Jr., Emmett Sanchez, and Araceli Hernandez sustained injuries as well.
Moreover, 10 of the 15 people involved in the accident were rushed to the Community Regional Medical Center with severe to moderate injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a reason of the crash.

The big-rig driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
Both lanes on Highway 99 closed down, and crews rerouted traffic to Floral Avenue. However, the lanes were reopened after the investigation and cleanup ceased.
