Injuries Reported in Yuba City Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 20 and Gray Avenue
YUBA CITY, CA (November 15, 2021) – Wednesday night, Brian Thornton and Olga Adelaida suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 20.
The incident began at about 6:00 p.m. when a white sedan drove east on Highway 20 at Gray Avenue in the No. 1 lane. Meanwhile, Brian Thornton driving a 2021 KTM motorcycle traveled east on Highway 20 in the no. 2 lane.
As Thornton traveled at a speed of 35 mph, the sedan traveled at an undetermined speed. Meanwhile, Olga Adelaida traveled east in a 2008 Chrysler minivan in the No. 3 lane at 30 miles per hour.
As the white sedan drove across the intersection of Gray Avenue, the driver failed to notice the motorcyclist to the right. Then, it immediately veered to the right in an attempt to approach the west entrance of the AM/PM on the southeast corner of Highway 20 and Gray Avenue.
Thornton stepped on the brakes but couldn’t avoid the collision. As a result, he struck the right side of the sedan as it crossed in front of him. Then, the sedan veered to the right which pushed the motorcycle directly in front of Adelaida’s minivan.
Adelaida failed to slow down due to proximity. Then, she struck the motorcycle and the sedan, causing the motorcycle to run off the road and overturn on the sidewalk. Then, the motorcycle slid into a tree, trapping Thornton between the motorcycle and the tree.
Meanwhile, the sedan driver escaped the scene.
Responders took Thornton to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries. Meanwhile, Adelaida suffered minor injuries. Adelaida wore a seat belt and Thornton wore a helmet at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, the CHP described the suspect vehicle as a white Chevy Cruze from 2011-2016. According to them, the vehicle must have a missing right side mirror and a damaged right front door and fender.
The authorities continue to investigate the crash. Furthermore, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact CHP at 530-674-5141.
