2 Dead in Tulare County Airplane Accident in Sequoia National Park
SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, CA (September 8, 2020) – On Saturday, Brian Nepinsky and Garry Zinger died in an airplane crash in Sequoia National Park.
Initially, The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC)reported a fixed-wing single-engine aircraft overdue.
Afterward, the Sequoia parks’ helitack team located the aircraft just after 8:00 a.m.
According to reports, witnesses last saw the aircraft in the Upper Horse Creek drainage in the Mineral King wilderness area.
Meanwhile, the plane crashed in a remote area. Furthermore, the NPS revealed that the airplane was scheduled to take off from Visalia about 11:00 a.m.
It was expected to arrive in San Bernardino County.
Moreover, the crash caused a one-half acre fire and was extinguished by park personnel.
In addition, the NPS revealed the identities of the two victims.
Indeed, Garry William Zinger, 82, and Brian Christopher Nepinsky, 35, died in the collision.
Subsequently, the crash remains under active investigation.
