1 Dead in Sonora Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 108 and Sanguinetti Loop
SONORA, CA (October 19, 2021) – Sunday, a deadly crash on Highway 108 involved Brian McGregor, Evan Hatler and other parties.
According to reports, an unidentified person drove a Toyota Pickup east. He traveled at a speed of 55-65 mph on Highway 108, west of Sanguinetti Loop. Reports confirmed that the driver approached the rear of a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup. According to authorities, Brian McGregor of Mocassin drove the Chevrolet at similar speeds.
Meanwhile, Evan Hatler of Coulterville drove a Dodge Pickup with a trailer in tow west on Highway 108. Then, Colleen Kotoske of Jamestown drove a Subaru Forester behind Hatler. Also, Arturo Balderas of Modesto drove a GMC Suburban behind Kotoske.
More Details on the Crash
Reports stated that the Toyota driver attempted to pass the Chevy by driving on the right shoulder. To avoid a crash, McGregor veered his vehicle to his left. Then, the left side of the Toyota struck the right side of the Chevrolet. The force pushed the car into the westbound lane directly into the path of the Dodge.
Then, the Chevrolet’s left side hit the right side of the Dodge’s trailer. Afterward, Mcgregor lost control of his vehicle and veered off the north edge of the roadway. The vehicle went down the north embankment, hit a boulder, and came to a stop.
On the other hand, Hatler managed to maintain control of his vehicle and stopped in the westbound lane. However, Hatler hit the left front of the Subaru. As a result, Colleen Kotoske lost control of the Subaru and went off the north edge of the roadway. Her vehicle overturned and landed on its roof.
Meanwhile, the Toyota went out of control in the westbound lane. Then, the GMC Suburban struck the right side in the front of the Toyota.
Eventually, the Toyota caught fire and the driver got trapped in his vehicle. Meanwhile, a witness helped the Suburban driver and passenger out of the vehicle before it also caught fire.
Authorities declared the Toyota driver dead at the scene.
Also, the crash led to the closure of the roadway for three hours during investigation and clean-up.
