Woman Struck and Injured by DUI Driver on Petersen Memorial Way
CHICO, CA (November 4, 2019) – A Chico man was arrested after a DUI crash near Lower Bidwell Park, Monday afternoon.
According to Chico Police Department, they received a report of a hit-and-run at about 2:06 PM. A woman had been walking her dog on Petersen Memorial Way when a vehicle struck her. The impact of the collision knocked the victim to the ground.
The pedestrian sustained an injury to the back of their head along with several scrapes. However, she declined to be taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
The woman was able to provide a description of the vehicle and driver. A short time later, officers found the vehicle driving the wrong way on Petersen Memorial Way. Authorities identified the driver as 30-year-old Brian Dinsmore of Paradise.
Officers arrested him for felony hit-and-run and DUI. They later transported him to Butte County Jail.
As per reports, Dinsmore was on post-release community supervision for a felony DUI, prior to this arrest. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
