35-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Milepost 213
STANWOOD, WA (December 30, 2018) – A man was killed early Sunday evening following a pedestrian accident near milepost 213. The victim was later identified as 35-year-old Brian Cooper, a resident of Stanwood.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:09 PM. A pedestrian was seen by multiple witnesses running across the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 when he was struck by three vehicles in the left lane.
Cooper suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The drivers of the three vehicles, 55-year-old Peter Nielson of Mukilteo, 33-year-old Puneet Hundal of Surrey, and 37-year-old Paul Nguyen of Lynnwood were not injured in the crash. No charges are expected in the fatal incident.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
