Brian Chuc Dead in Merced Hit-and-Run Crash on Bellevue Road
MERCED, CA (July 14, 2021) – Monday night, authorities arrested Michael Harris after a fatal bicycle accident on Bellevue Road near Utah Street.
At about 8:00 p.m., 22-year-old Brian Chuc rode his bicycle on Bellevue Road near Utah Street, west of UC Merced. Then, a vehicle traveling the same route hit the bicyclist.
Also, the investigators confirmed that the vehicle failed to stop after the crash and fled the scene.
Some witnesses contacted the police. When the first responders came to the scene, they declared the victim dead at the scene.
After three and a half hours, 62-year-old Michael Harris of Santa Paula called CHP Merced. According to him, he had struck a deer. When the Highway Patrol came to Harris’s location, they saw his vehicle with “significant damage.”
Thus, the officers arrested Michael Harris and booked him into the Merced County jail. Harris will be facing charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
