Suspected DUI Driver Brian Chastain Dies in Petaluma Car Crash
Petaluma, CA (August 27, 2020) – On Thursday, 29-year-old Brian Chastain of Napa died from injuries in a DUI crash on Adobe Road.
The fatal crash happened at about 5:40 a.m. near Sonoma Mountain Road.
Officers said Chastain was driving a Toyota Camry west on Adobe Road. Suddenly, he turned to the left directly into the path of the 34-year-old Michael Desir of Petaluma, who was traveling east in a Ford C-Max.
Firefighters extricated Desir who was trapped in his car.
Immediately, the rescuers transported both drivers to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Later, it was determined that Chastain’s injuries were more severe and life-threatening.
Officers said Chastain was DUI. Authorities charged him with felony driving under the influence causing injury.
