1 Dead in Modoc County Auto Accident on Highway 299 and Cedar Pass
MODOC COUNTY, CA (November 5, 2023) – Friday afternoon, Brian Boatman suffered injuries in a fatal traffic crash on Highway 299 and Cedar Pass.
The fatal incident happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Highway 299 and Cedar Pass.
Officers revealed that 44-year-old Boatman was traveling west along Highway 299 in a 2020 Chevrolet 6500 tow truck. Meanwhile, a 70-year-old woman in a 2007 GMC Sierra traveled eastbound on the same road.
Then, Boatman veered off the road and onto the north shoulder while negotiating the curve along Cedar Pass. Then, he veered the Chevrolet back onto the roadway but then lost control.
Eventually, Boatman went into the oncoming lane and crashed into the GMC, causing major damage to both vehicles.
As a result, the female driver of the GMC sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Meanwhile, Boatman suffered moderate injuries.
Boatman was taken by Modoc Medical ambulance and airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Also, the authorities do not believe that alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
