Texas Man Dies and Sacramento Man Injured after Golf Cart Crash in Placerville
PLACERVILLE, CA (October 7, 2019) – Authorities identified 44-year-old Brett Shannon as the Texas man killed in a golf cart crash at a Placerville golf course, Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 4:30 PM. Shannon was driving the cart at an unsafe speed downhill on the cart path. Then, the cart lost control and turned toward the bridge rail. There, it went down into a creek at the Apple Mountains Golf Resort.
Emergency responders pronounced Shannon dead at the scene. His passenger, identified as 31-year-old Clayton Rogers of Sacramento, suffered major injuries. Updates on his current condition remain unknown.
Investigators believe that speed and alcohol played a role in the fatal accident. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
