2 People Dead in Merced County Big Rig Accident on State Route 140 and Interstate 5

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (February 2, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, a deadly crash on State Route 140 and Interstate 5 involved Brett Cico.
 
The incident involving a big rig and a sedan happened at about 2:11 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on State Route 140 and northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp.
 
When the officers came, they found a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with the deceased 68-year-old male driver and a 66-year-old female passenger. Both of them came from Las Vegas Nevada.
 
According to reports, the Hyundai driver headed north on Interstate 5 at the State Route 140 off-ramp. Then, it stopped at a stop sign. However, the driver approached the eastbound traffic where it crashed with 40-year-old Brett Cico of Delhi California. Cico drove a 2020 Peterbilt at the time of the crash.
 
As a result, the Hyundai sustained major damage while the semi-truck sustained moderate damage. Also, Brett Cico suffered no injuries in the crash.
 
Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that drugs, alcohol, and weather conditions played a role in the crash.
 
The authorities continue to investigate the crash.
