1 Dead in Chula Vista Pedestrian Accident on Otay Mesa Road
CHULA VISTA, CA (March 6, 2020) – A person died in a pedestrian accident after a hit-and-run car struck her on Otay Mesa Road in Chula Vista on March 5.
According to San Diego police public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez, the crash occurred while pedestrian Brescia Ayón used a crosswalk at about 9:15 a.m. near Otay Mesa Road and Cactus Road, just south of Brown Field Municipal Airport.
Authorities pronounced the 21-year-old Hispanic female victim dead at the scene. It was not until Thursday evening when the medical examiner identified the pedestrian as Brescia Ayón.
According to Ayón’s friend, she was a Xolo Girl cheerleader in Tijuana and was a student of San Ysidro High School.
The cause of the crash still remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, the authorities described the hit-and-run vehicle as a silver Nissan Altima, with probable damage to the front passenger side.
Officer Tony Martinez revealed that after the crash, the driver didn’t stop, fleeing and heading west.
