DUI Driver Arrested in Fatal Head-On Collision in Brentwood
BRENTWOOD, CA (May 6, 2019) – A man was killed following a DUI head-on crash Monday afternoon in Brentwood.
Around 4:33 p.m., CHP officers responded to a report of a collision between two vehicles on eastbound Highway 4 at Balfour Road.
According to reports, a 2018 Honda SUV was traveling westbound when it crossed solid double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. It then collided head-on into a 2013 Toyota Corolla.
The Toyota’s driver, a 51-year-old Ripon man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has been withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old Concord man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was not injured.
Highway 4 was closed in both directions and traffic was being diverted off at Balfour Road.
