Angelica Varon Arrested in Watsonville Fatal Crash
Watsonville, CA (March 6, 2023) – On Saturday, Breanna Romero, 26, of Watsonville, died in a Holohan Road DUI collision.
California Highway Patrol officer said Israel Murillo Romero was northbound in a 2015 Hyundai Elantra around 10:20 p.m.
At the same time, Angelica Varon, 38, also of Watsonville, was driving a southbound Volvo XC90 on Holohan Road approaching Grimmer Road.
Suddenly, Varon crossed over the solid double yellow lines and crashed head-on with Romero’s vehicle.
Despite the paramedics’ lifesaving efforts, Romero succumbed to her injuries. Her passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Moreno Valley sustained major injuries and was transported to Natividad Hospital.
The authorities arrested Angelica Varon on suspicion of DUI. Officers also took her to Natividad with major injuries. Her passenger, a 25-year-old Watsonville man also sustained major injuries and self-transported to Watsonville Hospital.
Investigating officers believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the Watsonville fatal crash.
