37-Year-Old Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Collision with SUV near Grant Street

CONCORD, CA (April 20, 2018) – A motorcycle collision claimed the life of a motorcyclist, on Friday morning. The victim was later identified as 37-year-old Brandon McCole, a resident of Brentwood.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 6:45 AM near Grant Street on southbound Highway 242. McCole split the far two left lanes while heading south in heavy traffic.

For unknown reasons, his motorcycle suddenly slowed down, swerved right, and struck the back of an Infiniti SUV, driven by an unidentified pregnant woman.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they found McCole on the road after getting ejected from his motorcycle and ending up underneath the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The pregnant driver did not sustain any injuries, but she was still hospitalized for precautionary measures.

Authorities are looking at the bike’s sudden slowing as the cause, but they are still trying to figure out what might have caused for the rider to slow down.

Officials issued a traffic alert and closed the two far left lanes of the highway until 8:50 AM.
