Female Pedestrian Dies in Volta Road Big Rig Crash in Los Banos
, Merced County, CA (July 9, 2021) – Friday afternoon, a female pedestrian, Brandi Silva, died in a big rig fatal crash on Volta Road in Los Banos.
The deadly semi truck crash took place at around 2:22 p.m. on July 9, just north of Ramos Road and Highway 152.
According to CHP, the victim ran into the road and a 2019 International big rig traveling southbound on Volta Road struck her.
The pedestrian then sustained fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver, 28-year-old Fidel Alvarez, stopped and cooperated with the officers.
Police said the big rig appeared to be hauling two empty trailers from a tomato company.
Moreover, witnesses said the woman appeared to be chasing after her dog when she was struck.
Investigators released the name of the victim as 40-year-old Brandi Silva, of Stanislaus County.
