Branden Lewis LeMay Dead in Bakersfield Police Pursuit Accident, Passenger Hospitalized

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 21, 2021) – Tuesday morning, Branden Lewis LeMay, 25, died in a police chase crash on Panorama Drive and Mt Vernon Avenue.

According to reports, at around 2:17 a.m., CHP officers tried to pull over a white Chevy pickup for a registration violation.
This initial incident occurred on Fairfax Road and Niles Street.

However, the Chevy driver didn’t stop and fled the scene.

The driver drove north on Fairfax Road to westbound Panorama Drive. As the Chevy driver approached west of Mt Vernon Avenue, he lost control of the vehicle.

Then, Lewis LeMay went off the road and fell down an embankment. Eventually, the Chevy fell on its roof in the westbound lane of China Grade Loop.

According to the authorities, the suspect failed to use a seat belt. As a result, he was ejected from the Chevy and had suffered major injuries. Upon CHP officers’ contact, they found that he wasn’t breathing.

Despite life-saving measures, the suspect succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported the Chevy passenger to Kern Medical Hospital with moderate injuries.

The authorities continue to investigate the police pursuit accident. Meanwhile, the authorities closed the westbound China Grade Loop to Panorama Drive and the number two lane of Panorama Drive west of Mt Vernon Avenue during the investigation.

May fond memories of the deceased bring the bereaved family comfort. We also hope for the speedy recovery of the passenger affected.
