SALINAS, CA (August 26, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, an 11-year-old boy sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident on West Acacia Street near Riker Street.
 
The incident happened at about 3:00 p.m. on West Acacia Street near Riker Street.
 
As the child walked home from Mission Park Elementary, a black SUV ran into him. The crash occurred when the boy crossed the street on West Acacia Street near Riker Street.
 
A home security camera system recorded the incident.
 
“The lady in the black SUV was coming pretty fast from the video footage. And you know, apparently, she didn’t see him. I don’t really know what happened,” stated Jasmine Lawson, the mother of the victim.
 
The video showed that the SUV driver stopped the car after the crash. After opening the car door, she closed it again and fled.
 
Meanwhile, a man claiming to be the driver’s husband, said that his wife didn’t escape. According to him, when the boy went off, she immediately reported to the police station. Instead of waiting for the police of coming after the boy.
 
However, the authorities haven’t verified these facts at this time.
 
The child sustained a minor concussion, bruised ribs on his left side, and bleeding knees and scrapes.
