Boy Dies in 2-Vehicle Crash on FM 554 [Ector County, TX]

Ector County, TX (June 27, 2024) – A boy was killed and others were injured in a 2-vehicle crash on FM 554 Tuesday afternoon.

It was about 1:15 p.m. on June 25 when the fatal crash happened at the intersection with Cottonwood Road.

Troopers said a Chevrolet 1500 was westbound on Cottonwood Road towards the crossing with FM 554. At the same time, a GMC Acadia was northbound on FM 554 towards the same intersection.

As the GMC proceeded through the stop intersection, the Chevrolet reportedly disregarded a traffic control device and struck the Acadia on the right-hand side.

Sadly, a boy riding the GMC was killed at the crash scene. The 61-year-old woman driving the GMC sustained minor injuries. Three passengers, two were minors, all were seriously injured.

The Chevrolet 1500 driver incurred minor injuries.

Officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
