Van Plows Into Disabled Car Near the Windy Ridge Toll Plaza
ANAHEIM, CA (August 25, 2019) – A boy, 7, died in a crash involving a disabled car on 241 Freeway southbound on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened north of the Windy Ridge Toll Plaza at approximately 1:25 PM. Based on a report, a 2017 Kia Optima driven by 54-year-old Vernon Raggins was disabled in the lanes. A 2004 Ford E350 driven by 60-year-old Byong Yun Choe then struck the Kia’s rear.
An attending coroner proclaimed one of Raggins’ sons, a 7-year-old boy, dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Choe, Raggins and his 2 sons – aged 16 and 7 – to various local hospitals for treatment of injuries of varying degrees.
The freeway closed for three hours while clearing operation performed on the scene. An investigation continues.
