Bonnie Stewart Dies in Pedestrian DUI Crash on State Route 823 [Yakima County, WA]

State Route 823 Accident Kills Bonnie Stewart of Pasco, Jada Gibson Suspect

 
Yakima County, WA (May 16, 2021) – On Saturday, 51-year-old Bonnie Stewart of Pasco died, while 21-year-old Jada Gibson of Toppenish, was the suspect in a pedestrian DUI crash on State Route 823.
 
The accident happened at 1:15 a.m. near the town of Pomona.
 
Officers said Stewart was walking in a construction zone on the freeway.
 
At the same time, a Volkswagon Passat driven by Gibson failed to stop for traffic in the construction zone. Gibson hit two vehicles and Stewart.
 
Unfortunately, Stewart died at the scene of the crash.
 
Responders took two other people in one of the involved cars to an area hospital for injuries.
 
Gibson was not injured in the fatal accident.
 
Meanwhile, officers said charges are pending against Gibson. They also said drugs and alcohol were a factor in the incident.
