Bonita Powers Arrested East Sprague Avenue DUI Collision [Spokane Valley, WA]

Spokane Valley, WA (July 11, 2022) On Saturday, 61-year-old Bonita Powers was arrested after a DUI collision on the 16800 block of East Sprague Avenue.

Authorities say that the vehicle/motorcycle crash happened on July 9 around 8:20 p.m. near Steen Road.

The Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD), says that a northbound Honda CRV turned to the east and collided with a motorcycle heading west.

The crash caused the motorcycle rider to suffer life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.

Moreover, the Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) and AMR personnel responded to the scene and help provide medical care.

Furthermore, Powers failed a field sobriety test, and her blood-alcohol level was at .144, well above the .08 legal limit.

Police obtained a search warrant to get the blood sample used for testing.

SVPD booked Powers into Spokane County Jail. Officials charged Powers with vehicular assault, and the bond was set at $7,500.

Authorities are investigating the incident and have not released additional information about the crash.

Police say that the charges could be upgraded if the victim does not survive.
