BMW Driver Dies in Highway 92 Head-On Collision [San Mateo County, CA]

San Mateo County, CA (April 8, 2022) – On Friday, a BMW driver in his 30s sustained fatal injuries in a Highway 92 head-on collision.

The fatal incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on the freeway’s eastbound lanes at Canada Road, west of Interstate 280.

Immediately, the California Highway Patrol and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Officials say a gray BMW was westbound on the freeway when an eastbound red Honda Accord veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the BMW.

Unfortunately, the BMW driver lost his life at the accident scene. 

The Honda driver, a woman in her 20s, sustained major injuries. Rescuers rushed her to Stanford Medical Center.

Officers said it is still unknown if DUI is a factor in this fatal crash.
