Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 10 Freeway in Blythe
BLYTHE, CA (January 20, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by vehicles Sunday night in Blythe, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 6:43 p.m. along the westbound lanes of 10 Freeway at Mesa Drive.
According to an initial log, a black Dodge Ram ran over a body that was lying in the roadway. Several other vehicles, including a 2013 Infiniti M37, also hit the body. Airbags were deployed in the Infiniti after the crash.
CalFire responded to the scene and confirmed the fatality of the incident. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
The first and second lanes of the freeway were closed while officers conducted their investigation.
