Blanca Rangel Fatally Hurt in Prundale DUI Accident
PRUNDALE, CA (June 5, 2019) — Three Salinas women were killed in a DUI collision just south of Watsonville on Friday, May 31.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 6 a.m. Dispatchers arrived on San Miguel Canyon Road near Hambey Lane shortly after.
The women were traveling northbound in a Chevrolet HHR at the time. Then a Chevrolet Malibu driving south in the northbound lane struck their vehicle.
Monterey County sheriff’s office identified the deceased victims on Monday. Their names were released as 43-year-old Maria Teresa Rangel, 59-year-old Blanca Estela Rangel, and 58-year-old Manuela Marta Torres. All of them are residents of Salinas.
The driver of the Malibu, 27-year-old Hilda Valencia Flores, sustained major injuries. Paramedics transported her to Natividad hospital.
According to the Monterey County Jail website, authorities booked Flores Saturday. She received DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
