Elderly Man Dies in Afternoon 2-Vehicle Wreck at Poso Drive and Western Avenue
WASCO, CA (November 21, 2018) – An elderly man was killed following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Wasco, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened around 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of Poso Drive and Western Avenue.
According to reports, a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading southbound on Western Avenue when it failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a 1995 Ford pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on Poso Drive.
Paramedics responded to the scene and declared the Ford driver dead. The dog inside the Ford was also killed in the crash.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as an 83-year-old Billy Ray Cole.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
No additional information was provided at this time. Investigation of this fatal crash is still ongoing.
