Semi Truck Accident on 229 Freeway in Bella Vista
BELLA VISTA, CA (February 8,2019) – Friday afternoon, a big rig was involved in a rollover crash on the 229 Freeway.
As per reports the accident was reported at 1:30 PM on the 229 Freeway east of Sugar Pine Camp Road.
Shasta County Fire was dispatched to the scene where they found a tractor trailer had gone down a steep embankment which caused it to flip over onto its side. The trailer was registered to Hilton Transport & Supply Company.
Tow personnel had to use chop saws, chain saws, and axes to clear the way for the truck from all the heavy trees and thick foliage.
According to the California Highway Patrol the driver was trapped inside and lost consciousness because of the accident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. Status on his condition has not been released.
The wreckage caused traffic to be backed up for several hours. Cleaning crews were also dispatched to clean up the fuel spill and truck debris, however it was temporarily suspended due to snow and whether conditions.
There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
