Man Dead After Crash on Bloomfield Avenue in Santa Clara

Santa Clara, CA (May 3, 2024) – On Monday afternoon, a man died, and a woman sustained injuries in a crash on Bloomfield Avenue.

The incident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. near Bloomfield Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Alfredo Uribe. 

A 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling northbound on State Route 25 at 40 mph collided with a Hyundai Elantra as it made a left turn onto the highway from westbound Bloomfield Avenue, Uribe explained. 

The collision resulted in the death of the Hyundai’s driver. 

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release her identity after confirmation and notification of her next of kin.

The driver of the big rig sustained minor injuries to his left hand from the collision, Uribe noted. 

He also mentioned that neither drugs nor alcohol seemed to play a role in the accident.
