1 Hospitalized after Renton Bicycle Accident
RENTON, WA (December 13, 2018) – A 24-year-old Renton female resident is in a medically-induced coma four days after being struck while riding a bicycle by an alleged DUI driver.
According to Taylor Goehring’s family, she suffered severe brain trauma, internal bleeding, and several broken bones.
Reports revealed that Goehring was traveling in her bike on December 7 at Rainier Avenue North when a reckless driver hit her from behind. The authorities detained 44-year-old Vern Henderson who was said to be high on PCP and painkillers when the incident happened.
It was also revealed in the arrest records that the suspect has a long criminal history and has been detained for more than twenty times. He was convicted for DUI four times, including two in the past 10 years.
The King County Prosecutor also reposted that Henderson is also listed in a trial on February for a fifth DUI arrest last December.
The latest arrest could be Henderson’s sixth DUI.
