Bicyclist Sustains Major Injuries in Hughes Lane Collision [Bakersfield, CA]

Minivan Driver Hospitalized in Bakersfield Traffic Collision

Bakersfield, CA (December 15, 2023) – A male bicyclist and a female minivan driver were injured in a Hughes Lane collision Thursday morning.

Bakersfield Police officials said it was about 9:25 a.m. when the collision happened at the intersection with Wilson Road involving two vehicles. 

BPD said a woman driving a northbound minivan on Hughes Lane did not stop for a red light. The minivan collided with a westbound pickup truck driven by a man.

The force of the collision sent the pickup to crash into the bicycle.

Responding rescuers took the bicyclist to a nearby hospital in critical condition while the minivan driver was also hospitalized for a complaint of pain.

The drivers cooperated with the authorities and both of them were not suspected of driving under the influence.
